FAQs

Everything you might be wondering before the first class.

Getting Started & Enrollment

What age can my child start at Gym with Joy?

Children can begin from their first steps in our Parent & Child program and continue through recreational, intermediate and advanced competitive pathways.

How do trial classes and skill assessments work?

If your child is new to gymnastics, a trial lets them experience the class before you commit. Children with formal or competitive experience have a brief assessment so we can place them where they’ll be appropriately challenged.

How do I join the Priority List or register for classes?

Join the priority list online or contact us directly. We’ll guide you from there and let you know the next available step for your child.

Programs & Class Placement

Which program is right for my child?

We offer four main pathways:

Parent & Child: 1 years (Walking) up to 3 years old.
Recreational: Ages 3+ (foundational skills & fun!)
Intermediate: Flexible pathway with longer training and optional competition.
Competitive: High-commitment, technical training for competition-bound gymnasts.

Can my child change pathways as they improve?

Yes. We monitor each child’s progress and recommend a new pathway when their technique, confidence and readiness show they’re ready for more.

Coaching & Safety

What are your coach-to-student ratios?

We maintain strict, low ratios to ensure active coaching, personal attention, and high safety standards in every session.

What qualifications do your coaches hold?

Led by Founder Joy Koh (active FIG International Judge with 20+ years of experience), our coaching team follows strict technical progressions focused on both safety and encouragement.
