Joy Koh discovered gymnastics at eight years old and fell in love with it immediately. Her early experience also highlighted how deeply a coach’s words can shape a child’s relationship with their body, and with themselves.
This experience became the foundation of a belief that now sits at the heart of Gym with Joy: technical competence and emotional safety are inseparable. A child who is struggling needs a coach who can identify the next step, not make the child believe that something is inherently wrong with them.

Joy has built gymnastics programs from scratch at UWCSEA East and Stamford American International School. She later optimized a previously well established program at NIST International School, where she served as Director of Gymnastics.
At Tanglin Trust School she led a team of eight full-time and six part-time coaches.
Joy holds FIG Academy Levels 1, 2 and 3 and is an active Category 3 International Judge. She judged four World Championships in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2019, and served on the Local Organising Committee for the 2018 and 2025 World Championships.
She is a two-term Chair and current member of Singapore Gymnastics’ Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Advisory Committee (AGTAC).
“I want every child to feel seen, safe and capable of more than they thought possible.”— Joy Koh, Founder
Joy created Gym with Joy to bring technical excellence, thoughtful progression and genuine care together. A premium academy when children can learn gymnastics properly, love the experience and leave believing they can do hard things.
